Nine Climate Communities have been selected for one day local climate summits, where 50 selected participants brainstorm on recommendations for climate activities. The nine sets of recommendations will be forwarded to a side event to the COP 15 summit in Copenhagen in December. This campaign stresses the citizen involvement of the Climate Communities Concept and develops new ideas and possible activities to be taken up by any local stakeholder. Outcome from the first local climate summit in Bornholm have been recommendations regarding further development of wind and solar energy, information campaigns on consumer energy consumption, flexibility in public transportation and rainwater collection combined with new wetland area development. Furthermore, the local climate summits prove the connection from local involvement all the way up to international agreements at the Copenhagen summit in December.
