User License Agreement

The World Climate Community (WCC) is a social media website facilitating communication and debate on environmental and climate issues between users, groups created by users, politicians, NGOs, and any person who wishes to participate. The technical platform is provided, hosted, administered, and owned by the City of Copenhagen, Denmark (Københavns Kommune, Teknik-og Miljøforvaltningen, Center for Miljø).

By signing up to the WCC you explicitly accept and acknowledge the User License Agreement of the site. The Terms and Conditions listed in the User License Agreement can and maybe changed without prior notice, and it is the explicit responsibility of the user to keep abreast of any changes in the Terms & Conditions.
User created content will not be sold or used for commercial gain, but ads and sponsors are a part of the WCC, any income generated is however solely utilized for the development and hosting of the site. User created content may be used by the WCC to market the WCC and the climate cause.


1 Terms and Conditions

1.1 Content and use of World Climate Community

As a member of the WCC you can upload documents, pictures, videos and/or links on the site. It is solely your responsibility to verify whether the material you upload to the site is consistent with current Danish legislation – including the Copyright Act, the Patent Act the Trademark Act, and the Penal Act comprising the rules on personal abuse, forgery, defamation and racism, etc.
Explicitly this means:

  • You must comply with applicable laws.
  • You must comply with all Rules, or other communications, including amendments to these Terms and Conditions that may be issued by WCC.
  • You must keep your password private, do not share it with others.
  • You must immediately inform us if you discover a violation of the safety Should you discover content on the site that you believe does not comply with this User License Agreement, the WCC will greatly appreciate it if you notify our administrator on  [email protected].

If content on the site appears offensive, harmful or illegal, it will be removed without further ado as soon as the WCC is/ has been made aware of it. Furthermore, WCC reserves the right to remove any content from the site without notice if the WCC, following notification by a third party, learns that the third party’s rights are infringed as a result of content posted on WCC.

User created content will not be sold or used for commercial gain, ads and sponsors are a part of the WCC, but any income generated is solely utilized for the development and hosting of the site. User created content may be used by the WCC to market the WCC and the climate cause.

The WCC strives to ensure a stable operation, but does not guarantee it. The WCC is not liable for the loss of data, profile or group name through your use of the site.


1.2 Your personal profile on WCC

When you create a profile on the WCC you must at least provide us with a valid and personal email, a name and a password. Your password is private and ensures that only you can access and publish content on the site listing you as the author or contributor. The WCC database will store your password in encrypted form, not readable by any human actor in the WCC organisation. Thus, we cannot retrieve a lost or forgotten password, even if we wanted to.

You can always delete your profile from WCC. Should you choose to delete your personal profile from WCC all of your posts will remain visible on the site, although your username will become anonymous on the site.

The WCC reserves the right to block your profile or delete content created by you, if WCC estimates that offensive, irrelevant or illegal content is published by you or by way of your profile. In this case you will receive an email from WCC with a reason as to why the WCC have chosen to block or delete your profile, or block, modify or delete content from your profile.


1.3 Registration of personal data

If you create a profile on the WCC, the site will only collect any data necessary to ensure that the WCC is able to function as a vibrant platform for people with an interest in the environment, climate issues and an open and democratic process.

The WCC registers your name and email in order to connect this with your profile, and verify that you are the proprietary owner of said email address.

When you provide us with your email you agree that the WCC is allowed to send you an occasional newsletter to your email.

The collected data and information is subject to legislation defined in the "Act on Processing of Personal Data". It establishes guidelines for how authorities should handle personal data. The Act also protects you within the “data area ”. This   provides you with certain rights when information about you is recorded electronically.

The WCC may only collect and use relevant information, and specifically only the user’s personal information, which may be needed to operate and improve the site.

There is no transfer or forwarding of specific user- or membership information from WCC to the City of Copenhagen or any other parties.
These are your rights:

  • You may inquire as to what information WCC have on you.
  • You can oppose WCC’s usage of your information and if your objection is justified, the usage will be stopped.
  • You can have false or misleading information corrected or deleted.
  • Complaints about WCC’s treatment of your personal information can be filed to Danish Data Protection Agency, Borgergade 28, 5th floor, DK-1300 Copenhagen K, Denmark.

1.4 Disclosure of information

You can be privy to information concerning your profile on WCC. All you need to do is contact Project Manager Christina Anderskov, The Technical and Environmental Administration, Environment Department, City of Copenhagen, Kalvebodbrygge 45, PO.Box 259, DK-1502 Copenhagen V. whom is the data controller.

1.5 Cookies

WCC uses cookies to create an optimal user experience on the site. A cookie is a small file that is installed on your computer in your browser’s cache when you create a profile on WCC. This cookie means that the site automatically recognizes your computer, when you access WCC. Thus, the site will also be able to remember your username so that you won’t have to retype username and password every time you login.


1.6 Data ownership and responsibility

WCC is responsible only for the data you provide when you enter your name and email address. You are, however responsible for all other data you may choose to provide or create on the WCC.

The WCC strives to ensure a stable operation, but does not guarantee it. The WCC is not liable for the loss of data, profile or group name.


1.7 Privileges

WCC owns all rights and privileges to the WCC. When using the WCC you are given non-exclusive rights to use WCC's technical platform. Conversely, you only give WCC non-exclusive rights to use the material you created or uploaded, when that content, information or data is available on WCC. This material that you make available is solely intended for the operation of WCC. Thus, you own all rights to the material(s) you put on WCC - with the exception of the aforementioned use.
