About

In December 2009 Copenhagen is host city to the UN climate conference COP15 (Conference of the Parties). The conference will take place between December 7.-18.

The city will be full of people, from presidents and high-level opinion makers to Hollywood movie stars, NGO volunteers and grass roots. They will all be here for one thing: To voice their opinion in order to combat climate change. Hopefully, their efforts will give us all a new, ambitious and strong climate agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol from 1997.

Your voice is important. The City of Copenhagen has created the World Climate Community, so you can have your say.

History
The World Climate Community is the idea of Mr. Klaus Bondam, Technical and Environmental Mayor of the City of Copenhagen. In December 7th.-18th. Copenhagen will be the host city of the UNFCCC climate conference, COP15. Hopefully, their efforts will give us all a new, ambitious and strong climate agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol from 1997. Last year’s COP14 in Poznan, Poland and COP13 in Bali in 2006 laid out the cornerstones for the Roadmap to Copenhagen.

Want we aim to do
At this year’s conference NGOs, grassroots and politicians will come together to fight climate change and debate issues such as; sustainable environment, reduction of CO2 emissions, legislation for pollution, protection of the rain forest, the ice caps, mitigation of the consequences of rising sea levels, extreme weather, deforestation, global warming and the green house effect! Environmental policy is the word. Action is the way forward!
